Hospital Days

Jerri Lynn had lots of visitors in the hospital. The first visitor was from a staff member at church. He came in the delivery room and thought that I was laboring. He said, so when do you think she will be born? We laughed and said-"She is already here!" Mom was holding her. It was so funny. I had such an easy delivery and was so blessed to feel so good! Aunt Debra, Gracie, Emily Anne and Reid visited. We had fun comparing Reid and Jerri Lynn. They were almost the same size. Charlie said, "Come here baby!" and tried to pull Jerri Lynn off the bed. Buck and Eli were so sweet holding Jerri Lynn. Thanks to Buck for taking such good care of Charlie while we were in the hospital. He even changed his stinky diaper. We went home from the hospital 2 days later and Jerri Lynn slept the whole way home. We even stopped to pick up dinner and it was a 25 minute wait and she just slept! First week at home- sleep, sleep, sleep!!!

Jerri Lynn's Birthday!

Steph and her family finally arrived around 4:45 a.m. and CJ and I were on our way to the hospital. Charlie woke up too and was so excited to see his cousins! We headed to the hospital and everybody else went back to bed! We got admitted to the hospital and shortly after Dr. Keller came in and broke my water and started Pitocin around 7 am. I was in labor!! The nurse kept offering me an epidural, so I went ahead with one. The contractions had just started to get painful when the anestheisiologist arrived. My blood pressure dropped and I had to have some epinephrine. CJ was enjoying watching sports on TV until I kindly suggested that I didn't want to watch that! When I was dialated to 5cm we called for Mom, Stephanie and Kailee to come on to the hospital. Randy, Buck and Eli stayed at home with Charlie. Thank goodness they got there when they did, because I was 7 1/2 cm when they arrived and 10 minutes later I was 10 and the nurse said, "Don't push, the doctor is delivering another baby!" I was so relieved when Dr. Keller walked through those doors in just a few minutes! 3 pushes and Jerri Lynn was born at 3:09 pm!!! She weighed 8lbs and was 20inches long. She slept and slept and slept!! We are praying her laid back personality continues with her spirited brother! Charlie came to meet his little sister and was so sweet with her. He said, "baby- I like it, Jerri Lynn." Buck, Eli, and Uncle Randy came too. We are thrilled to have a little girl in the family after 16 years.

Today we will meet Jerri Lynn!

It is 4:20 a.m. and CJ and I have been awake since around 1:30. We are just too excited to sleep! We have to be at the hospital at 5:30. My sister and her family are still not here. They didn't leave SC until around 8:00 pm. Praying they travel safely- it is rainy here. Being pregnant this time has truly flown by. Did I mention how excited we are! Our prayer for Jerri Lynn is that she will love the Lord with all her heart, soul, strength and mind- and that CJ and I will be the parents that God has commissioned us to be.

Tuesday is the day!

We had our final doctor's appointment today. Jerri Lynn's heartbeat was really fast at first 180 and then it dropped to 160. I am 2cm dilated and 70% effaced. We are to be at Labor and Deliver on Tuesday the 16th at 5:30 am. They will start an IV, give me Pitocin and hopefully get an epidural shortly after! We can't wait to meet our baby girl. I think I am going to try to take Charlie to the doctor tomorrow, because he still feels so bad. I need him well when he meets his little sister!!

False alarm!

I woke up at 12:30 coughing and thought my water had broken. I wasn't for sure, so I went back to sleep and we called the doctor this morning and went in to get checked! It wasn't my water!!! Ree is on her way and that makes us feel so much better. Charlie is running a 102 fever, so we don't want to leave him with Debra to get her baby sick. We both will feel relieved when Mom gets here. Last night, we left Charlie with a babysitter for the first time- it was his Sunday School teacher and he loves her. It was so nice to not worry about him! CJ and I went to hear Josh McDowell talk at our church. We also went the night before and I had contractions every 2-3 minutes for 4 hours! They were just Braxton-Hicks! So, I go back to the doctor on Thursday and then the plan is to induce on Tuesday the 16th! We shall see!
